Visitors

Literally hundreds of thousands of Arizonans and tourists from throughout the United States visit the Arizona Rim Country area to enjoy the incomparable cool weather in the summer and the breathtaking natural beauty of ponderosa pine country.

Some come to the Rim Country only for weekend visits; some vacation here all summer. They come in the winter, too, to be inspired by the occasional snow blanketing the pines and to enjoy tobogganing, snow tubing and cross-country skiing. Some stop awhile in Payson, then continue to higher elevations in the nearby White Mountains or San Francisco Peaks for a weekend of downhill skiing.

Virtually limitless trails, campgrounds, and other recreational amenities can be found in the adjacent Payson District of the Tonto National Forest. Click here to visit the official site of your National Forest. The Payson region is also home to the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, the Tonto Fish Hatchery, and the Tonto National Monument.
