Welcome

The Payson region encompasses much of Northern Gila County including the Town of Payson, Town of Star Valley, Pine, Strawberry, Young and Rye. The Town of Payson and surrounding region is the geographic "heart" of Arizona and is within 90 miles of two trans-continental interstates (I-10 in Phoenix and I-40 in Flagstaff).

Airports that service the Payson area include Sky Harbor International Airport (Phoenix), Phoenix Gateway (Mesa), Scottsdale Air Park (Scottsdale), and Payson's own regional airport. The centralized location of this area within the Southwest provides efficient distribution to the 55 million regional inhabitants and connections coast to coast. Businesses enjoy the cool Rim Country setting, while having ready access to the cultural amenities, sports, world-class dining, entertainment and shopping of a major metropolitan area.

Payson Region

The Payson region is commonly referred to as the "Arizona Rim Country." The 7,000-foot-high Mogollon Rim (pronounced Mug-ee-own) stretches from central Arizona into New Mexico. The town of Payson, at 5,000 feet and the hub of the region, is nestled in a valley between two mountain ranges and along rolling hills that rest at the base of the Mogollon. The town is surrounded by the Tonto National Forest and adjacent to the largest stand of Ponderosa pine in the world. It is situated in one of only three pure-air-ozone belts in the world and the only one in the West.
