Since 1987, the Payson Regional Economic Development Corporation (PREDC) has been working to enhance the economy of the northern Gila County area, known locally as the "Rim Country." The organization focuses on activities that include recruiting new businesses, retaining and expanding existing businesses, increasing tourism and recreation, generating and maintaining relationships, and removing barriers to doing business.
